Christmas Countdown

I always love counting down the days to Christmas, but this year I wanted it to be more than numbers for me and my young family. As I pondered on it I began to remember that all the prophets have testified of Christ and of His coming. I realized that I wanted to help my children to realize WHY Christ birth was so important and why all the prophets have testified of Him. This is still a work in progress, but after doing all this work, I thought I might share it in case others would enjoy it as well.

I have separated the events into separate post, but would encourage you to make it your own countdown by deciding which events you will read about on each day. Perhaps you will skip some of the post or combine a few to read on one night. Be sure and do the reading ahead of time if you are planning on doing this as a family so that you can decide on which scriptures will be best for your family. I would encourage you to read at least one scripture passage each day direct from the book.

This year I decided to leave out the Passover and Abraham sacrificing Issac because I feel we need to do that lesson over a longer amount of time due to the number of questions I know my daughter will have and the amount of symbolism. I know there will also be days that we might miss, so I plan to spread it out like this and might end up combining a few more.
